Tinker Weekend Activities

On 26 and 27 September, the NSvT is organising a real Tinker weekend extravaganza.

Will you be joining us for all our activities? Read below to find out what we’ve got organised.

TREC Talk & Demo, 26 September

The sport of TREC has its origins in equestrian tourism in France. The acronym stands for Ttechnique of Rhike Equest for CTREC stands for “competitive equestrian trekking techniques”. TREC has since grown into an increasingly popular competitive sport, whilst still retaining its recreational and enjoyable aspect.

Competitions are held during the off-season and consist of three events, spread over one or two days:
1. (POR) A ride through the countryside where you have to find your way along the route.
2. (MA) A test in which you demonstrate that your horse responds to the aids and that you have the gaits under control.
3. (PTV) A course featuring simulations of obstacles you might encounter in the wild.
TREC is accessible and suitable for everyone. As you don’t need any special skills or have to buy any specific equipment, it’s easy to give it a go. Do you enjoy getting out and about, and do you love variety, a friendly atmosphere and a relaxed competitive vibe? Then TREC might just be the thing for you (and any team mates you might have)!

Together with TREC Club Netherlands, we are organising a talk and demonstration featuring Carolien Esselink and European Champion Renske Giesen

We organise B to Z2 trials.
All you need to bring is your Tinker, your competition kit and a smile!

Horse-riding proficiency test, 26 September

We’ve organised an activity for the carriage drivers amongst us too! An accessible skills test. Steer your way through the cones and beams and show that you and your Tinker are skilled at driving the cart.

Top-class Riding Horse, 26 September

Best Riding Horse looks at the Tinker or Tinker cross's suitability as a riding horse. Training grade is therefore not decisive in this, although presentation (especially in the form of grooming and friendliness in proposals and riding) does affect the results.

Riding is done in groups of four horses with their riders, based on gender and type. In those 20 minutes, the judges ask for various gaits, transitions, extensions and figures to be ridden.

Participation is possible with any Tinker or crossbreed of 4 years and older. There are no specific requirements for the optoming, so this may be either English or Western or another form. A bit is not a requirement either, but safety is a priority.

A prize will be awarded by type and then a Best Over All (BOA) will be chosen. Crossbreeds do not participate in the BOA.

Stallions may also participate, provided they are well controlled on strange terrain.

BBQ 26 September

Tinkers and food – they’re a match made in heaven. But we owners can do that too! That’s why, at the end of the day, we’re organising a lovely BBQ, with cuts of meat, a variety of salads, baguettes, herb butter and sauces. Fancy joining us for a meal?

Bomb test, 27 September

Is your Tinker bomb-proof? Are you up for the challenge?
Test your Tinker for sounds, movement, surprising objects, unexpected situations and much more.
Complete the test and receive a genuine "bomb-proof" certificate and a prize.
For safety reasons, the test is carried out manually.
